Is Fortnite down? How to check server status in UK and beyond
Beware the dreaded 'servers not responding' message.
Whenever you're struggling to get into Fortnite, there's a strong chance that the servers are down.
This could be due to an unforeseen issue, or it could be scheduled server downtime for planned patches and updates.
Today (Friday 16th August 2024), Fortnite fans knew to expect some downtime.
This is because of the new Fortnite season, Absolute Doom, which will bring a bunch of Marvel skins - including Gwenpool - into the game. You can check out the fresh outfits in the video above.
This update doesn't just affect Battle Royale, as LEGO Fortnite, Fortnite Festival, Fortnite Creative and Rocket Racing are expected to go down as well.

Is Fortnite down? Scheduled maintenance news
Yes, Fortnite is currently down.
At around 4am BST this morning, from a UK time zone perspective, the game went offline for some planned maintenance.
This was confirmed with the social media post below, which also included all the links that explain what's coming in the update.
An exact time for the servers to come back online has not yet be confirmed, but we'd hope to be back in the game by lunchtime. That's normally a good guess!
How to check Fortnite server status
Whenever you're unsure as to whether Fortnite is online, there are three main places you should check to see what the Fortnite server status is looking like.
- The official Fortnite Status Twitter account will keep you posted with official updates from the developers.
- Also, the Epic Games website will give you a quick way to look at the official status of all of Epic's services.
- Plus, take a look at Down Detector and you'll see if any other players are currently experiencing difficulties.
